Opening Day

I will be the first to admit, as a Chicago sports fan, gearing up for the 2013 MLB season has been challenging this year. With the excitement of the NCAA tourney, the Hawks still kicking ass and taking names, and the anticipation surrounding the ongoing Derrick Rose Saga, the 2013 MLB season seems far off in the distance.

wildcardER

After an exhausting 162-regular game season, playoff baseball in October is the highly anticipated finale that spotlights the best teams of the season and draws casual fans back in.  While Chicago has been denied a playoff team in the last 5 post seasons (last Chicago team to make the Playoffs were the Sox in 2008), the Sox are in a good position to clinch the AL Central and return to the post season for the first time in 5 years.

In honor of the second wave of the BP Crosstown Cup, we’re celebrating the Cubs/White Sox rivalry and the emotions the series stirs in fans by highlighting two passionate and loyal sports divas.  Representing the Sox, is Ashley Erin Sellers:

Growing up in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, I was surrounded by friends who followed the lovable losers.  Fortunately, I was taught at a young age to love the White Sox by my Pop.  Every time I went to visit my grandfather, baseball was always on television.  The White Sox were the premier ball club and watching the games with my Pop was something I had the privilege of doing.  I learned to love baseball as a child, and per my request, I even spent my 12th “golden” birthday with my family watching the White Sox lose to the Kansas City Royals.
