NBA Unveils ‘Latin Nights’ Unis
¿Cómo están, order Divas? In “growing of support” of fans across Latin America and Hispanic communities, the NBA has unveiled the sleeved “Latin Nights” uniform. They will be worn by six teams, which include the Chicago Bulls (Los Bulls), the Miami Heat (El Heat), the Los Angeles Lakers (Los Lakers), the New York Knicks (Nueva York), the San Antonio Spurs (Los Spurs), and the Phoenix Suns (Los Suns). All of the teams will also wear special Adidas Latin Nights pre-game shooting shirts over the next two weeks.
“With Hispanic fans comprising 18 percent of the league’s fan base, we have a responsibility to be inclusive and deliver customized experiences that connect with our fans in meaningful ways,” says Saskia Sorrosa (NBA VP of multicultural marketing). (nba.si.com)
Marvel Designs Super LeBron Mask
After LeBron James’ groundbreaking 61 points against the Charlotte Bobcats on Monday night, Marvel’s Greg Land designed a hero mask to match his outworldish basketball super powers.
James originally broke his nose last month, during a game against the Oklahoma City Thunder when Serge Ibaka tried to block a dunk. Apparently, his nose cannot seem to catch a break (or can it?). Dwight Howard accidentally elbowed him on Tuesday night, when they lost to the Houston Rockets . No worries, the mask was on!
Chris Paul at Oscars’ Vanity Fair Party
Los Angeles was the land of fabulous ensembles during Oscars weekend. Chris Paul was one of the many athletes spotted at the star-studded events. He attended the Vanity Fair party with his stunning wife, Jada Crawley. CP3 looked royal in his navy blue tux, and Jada looked ravishing in a bold red gown.
The Clippers’ Point Guard apparently had a ball (see what I did there?). He poses for an Instagram photograph with Barkhad Abdi and Faysal Ahmed of Oscar nominated film, Captain Phillips.
Chris Paul was recently named Los Angeles’ Sportsman of the year. “I’m blessed,” Paul said. “I get a chance to play basketball every day and say that’s my way of life. (FOX Sports).
The Sportswoman of the Year awards went to WNBA MVP Candace Parker and swimmer Diana Nyad.
Lance Stephenson’s AND1 ‘Lance-a-Lent’ Sneakers
Lance Stephenson was definitely feeling the spirit of Mardi Gras! The Pacers Shooting guard sported a wild pair of ‘Sir Lance-A-Lent’ Sneakers on Tuesday night’s game against the Golden State Warriors. The Aqua Mid PE shoes make me want to give out beads just by looking at them! Lance and his festive sneakers ended up losing the game (98-96). The Pacers also went on to lose (87-109) to the Charlotte Bobcats on Wednesday night. Yup, you read that right. Charlotte’ s star player, Al Jefferson certainly did not want another ‘L’ on the team’s record.
“I’m not accepting that we’re a team that guys look at on the schedule anymore and say, ‘OK, we have the Bobcats (so) we can take the night off.” Jefferson said. (ESPN).
