One of the many things we love about hockey players is their innate ability to make a shaggy head look sexy. No other league or sportsman can honestly say the same.
There’s just something organically hot about ‘flow’ (that’s hockey slang for hair that peeks out under a helmet), cure and we’ve almost come to expect the overgrown look before the official chase for the Cup even begins.
So when a player publicly vows to shave his head, ask fans pay attention. For guys who rock the flowing locks as a badge of honor, site shaving the head is a big deal, and what better way to get people engaged and opening their wallets then to associate the monumental head shave with a respectable and deserving charity.
Chicago Wolves’ forward, Nathan Longpre will shave his head for charity for the second year in a row. Last year Longpre was motivated to go under the shears when he learned that his good friend, Chris Kushneriuk had been diagnosed with cancer. Watch the cutie go from blow-out material to high-and-tight at a Hair Cuttery in the video below.
But this year, Longpre will not go at it alone, he’s brought in a few reinforcements to get behind the cause. This time Longpre will be joined by some of his teammates: forwards Chris Porter and Ty Rattie and defenseman Brent Regner.
Throughout the month of February, these hairy Wolves will be raising money for Chicago Wolves Charities in the name of cancer awareness. Last year Longpre raised over $1,000. This year, Longpre’s goal is $2,000. For each $500 marker he hits, Porter, Rattie and Regner will shave their heads as well. All proceeds raised will benefit Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation, Little Heroes Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation, and Chicago Wolves Charities.
The fleecing of the Wolves is a great way to generate player exposure and drive awareness around such important cancer foundations. Consider getting behind the push and help these guys reach their goal. You can download the donation form HERE.
