SM Roundup: Bears Season Ends, the Best of Xmas Posts, WAGs Baby Bump Updates

Happy Tuesday, search divas! It’s our final social media roundup of 2013 and it certainly comes with some joy and heartache. We saw a surge in social media postings this week from our favorite athletes as they celebrated Christmas. Unfortunately, the holiday week was capped off with a gut-wreching Bears loss that ended their season and postseason hopes.

The reaction to the Bears loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday continues to be felt on social media. “The NFC North is @packers country. #GBvsCHI (@toddrphoto/NFL)”

After the game, the Tweets from players came pouring in…

Brandon Marshall posted this photo and gave a quick shout-out to everyone in Chicago. “Tough loss today. We will get it done next year. Thanks Chicago for supporting us through this tested year. Thank you Jesus for another opportunity. #beardown”

Besides the action each Sunday, we’ll also certainly miss the fashion with the end of the Bears season. The Bears offense certainly stepped it up this year on the field and by taking noticeable fashion risks. Brandon Marshall and Martellus Bennett are certainly the team peacocks, proudly displaying new staetment-making looks each game, and this Sunday was no different.

Before the game, Bennett snapped a picture of his pre-game look with Brandon Marshall. “Yin & Yang. @btm15 Black Unicorn x Machine Marshall”

Earlier in the week, Tim Jennings posted this picture of Major Wright sleeping on the airplane. “Caught that boy sleeping with the limp neck!!! @lilmade21”

The injured Henry Melton had a rough week after being arrested in a bar in Texas right before Christmas but his run in with the law didn’t seem to sway his urge to post on Instagram. Melton posted this picture of Earl Bennett in an attempt to gain the receiver some more followers. “Follow my dude @earlbennett … He scores touchdowns #beardown”

It was a big week for Robbie Gould. The Bears kicker signed a much deserved 4-year extension earlier this week with the Bears.  “Robbie Gould signs a 4-year extension to remain with the #Bears. Congratulations, Robbie!

Here are a couple more random tweets from some of our favorite Bears that caught our eye this past week.

Our Blackhawks were surprisingly active on social media during the holidays after keeping things pretty quiet the last few weeks while they’ve been dominating the Western Conference. I’m hoping they keep up this social media activity into the new year as we love hearing from our #1 Chicago team.

Moving on to our WAGs Section, the baby bumps are continuing to grow fast! Elina Cassell Hjalmarrson posted this gorgeous picture with her hubby on Christmas. “Merry Christmas everyone from this little family!!! Miss all our friends and family in Sweden! Lots of love!”

Siggi Bennett’s bump isn’t stopping her from working. “Third trimester, hands are swollen and hurt but still gotta go to work on this corporate gig. Happy Thursday!”

Siggi also took out some frustration towards the nut-job Fantasy Football enthusiasts that were apparantly not happy with her hubby’s falling numbers these last few weeks.

On Christmas, Kristin Cavallari posted this adorable and very normal picture of herself and Jay. “Merry Christmas everyone! Hope u are with the ones u love…”

Meanwhile, Amanda Bickell made sure to help out those in need at Christmas time.

That’s all we have for you this week, divas!  Have a safe and happy New Year. We’ll see you back here in 2014!
