SM Roundup: Blackhawks Ditch the WAGs for Moms, Man-Child Turns 21, and Baby Bennett Update!

Happy Monday, ambulance divas! It was a pretty unstable week for sports in Chicago… The Bears had a bye week, ailment the Blackhawks lost twice, and the Bulls ended their preseason with an undefeated record.

One would assume the Bears would be a little more vocal on social media with a bye week; but it’s actually been quite the opposite. Hopefully, that means they took a little extra time to enjoy their day off with their families. We’re hoping next week’s SM Roundup will be filled with some great Halloween costumes and celebratory posts from the Bulls win over the Heat in the season opener… In the meantime, we’ll work with what we have….

Usually, we spend a lot of time talking about our favorite athlete WAGs; but this week another group of ladies were in the spotlight. It was the annual Blackhawks ‘Mom’s Trip’ when the players took their moms on a two-game trip to Florida. The Blackhawks Instagram commemorated the trip with a couple of pictures. “Hey, Mama Sharp wore the right Patrick’s jersey this time! #Mom’sTrip #Blackhawks”

“On the ice or off the ice, sons or moms… the Swedes stick together.”

Andrew Shaw shared a picture from some of their down-time in Florida. “Nice dinner cruise on the moms trip!”

Check out the official video of the Mom’s Trip from BlackhawksTV. The apple certainly doesn’t fall far from the tree…you can pinpoint the mom to the player by just a glance.

Need a Patrick fix? Take a look at the latest digital issue of Michigan Avenue Magazine. “The two Patricks grace the cover of November’s @michiganavemag! Coming to a newsstand near you!”

It was bad news this week as new Blackhawks defensemen, Michael Kostka was declared out for 4-6 weeks with a lower body injury. What does Michael Kostka like to eat? Chipotle of corse.

On Sunday one of our favorite Blackhawks turned 21! Brandon Saad, aka the “Man-Child” can now lose that nickname, but we doubt that will happen anytime soon. “Why is this man celebrating? Why, it’s his birthday, of corse! Happy 21st to Brandon Saad!”

On Friday, the Bulls played their final preseason game against the Denver Nuggets. Taj Gibson posted this picture after the game when he was able to reconnect with former Bull, Nate Robinson. “It was good seeing my bro @naterobinson aka MR Heart Over Height #holdat @pulse_graffix”

Moving on to our Bears, Robbie Gould hosted the Goulden Touch 5K on Sunday in Kildeer, IL. He tweeted out his thanks to a few teammates who helped out with the event.

A few of the other players seemed to have the same reaction that we did to a #Bearless Sunday.

On Saturday Martellus Bennett had some thoughts what his jeans should and shouldn’t do…

On Friday, Devin Hester made quite the announcement with this picture on Instagram. “I’m very happy about this and also very happy to announce that for every one I run back I will be donating $5,000 to Anytime Empowerment Center Inc.”

On to our WAG’s section! Siggi Bennett and Martellus made a huge announcement this week. Siggi posted this picture on Instagram to announce the sex of the #BabyBear. She captioned the picture, “Operation Minisaurus”

Earlier in the week, Siggi also posted this picture of her pregnancy style. “19 weeks pregnant.” Keep working those stilettos, Siggi!

So what did our Blackhawk WAGs do since their men were off on the moms trip? They decorated pumpkins of course. Elina Casell-Hjalmarsson posted this picture on Instagram of their ladies night. “Pumpkin part and the game in the back #artsandcraft”

Amanda Bickell posted this picture of the finished pumpkins on Instagram. “Great time painting pumpkins. They all turned out awesome! @lindseyveeee @nikkiheavens @elinacasell @chaunetteb”

That’s all we have for you this week divas! Make sure to check back next Monday for all of the hottest social media posts. Have a wonderful week and a Happy Halloween!
