White Sox Finally Pull the Trigger and Trade Pitcher Jake Peavy

Jake Peavy

The White Sox finally made their big move in the final hours before the MLB Trade Deadline and dealt pitcher Jake Peavy to the Boston Red Sox in a 3-team trade that included the Detroit Tigers.

Jake Peavy is leaving the White Sox with a record of 8-4 and 4.28 ERA.  He has battled injuries throughout his four seasons with the White Sox but looked strong this season. Peavy was one of the few prominent pitchers available at the MLB Trade Deadline that ends today on Wednesday, medical July 31st.

From the deal the White Sox receive 6’4″ outfielder Avisal Garcia, recipe nicknamed “Little Miggy” and two lower level minor league infielders from the Detroit Tigers. Garcia, who is the centerpiece of the trade, has spent the year between Detroit’s farm system and the big leagues and is their #2 prospect. This year in the minors, Garcia has a combined .387 batting average with six home runs and 27 RBIs.

Boston Red Sox Infielder Jose Iglesias will head to Detroit as they await the possible suspension of infielder Jhonny Peralta due to the Biogenesis investigation.
