Well ladies, no rx let’s finish this, try eh? The Blackhawks are just one win away from returning to the Stanley Cup Finals, cure but first they must eliminate the team that currently holds on to Lord Stanley’s Cup, the LA Kings.
The Hawks and Kings are back in action tonight at the Madhouse for Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals where they will attempt to close out the LA Kings and move on to the final round of the playoffs, the Stanley Cup Finals.
The Blackhawks had a huge game Thursday night, not only taking a commanding 3-1 series league, but ending the Kings’ home ice domination at 15 games. Everyone stepped up in Game 4, look for more of the same tonight as the Hawks want nothing more than to finish this series on home ice and avoid having to go back to LA for Game 6.
It’s a 7:00PM puck drop at the Madhouse but our city will be partying and preparing early. Set your plans now and get out and enjoy this gorgeous day. Here’s what you need to know heading into tonight’s Game 5.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
- The Boys are back in town: How awesome was it to see Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews reunited on the first line in Game 4? These two have been MIA for most of the postseason, particularly Patrick Kane. Kaner got on the board for the first time in eight games on Wednesday night, if Kaner shows up with the same aggressive play as he did last in Game 4, the Blackhawks could be lethal. Now if Jonathan Toews could also have a game-changing performance, this Blackhawks fan will be a happy camper.
- Win or Go Golfing: The Kings are on the brink of elimination (sound familiar?) Look for the Kings to shake up their lines once again and go all out to pull off the win on enemy ice. It is win or go home for these guys and as the defending Stanley Cup Champs, this is not how they want their season to end. They will pull every trick out of the hat tomorrow night to force a Game 6 back in LA on Monday night. Remember the Blackhawks were just in the same situation in the Detroit series a week and a half ago. Just like the Hawks did, the Kings are looking at it as one game at a time and have been successful in clutch situations in the past.
- The Boston Bruins Await: The Bruins swept the Pittsburgh Penguins in the Eastern Conference Finals on Friday night 4-0 and await the winner of this series who they will face in the 2013 Stanley Cup Finals. The Hawks want nothing more than to finish this series tonight so they can rest a few days before the Stanley Cup Finals begin.
- Who will be the better net minder? Jonathan Quick came into this series as the bigger name and with more to lose. However, even though he has shown brilliance here and there Corey Crawford has out played him in 3 out of 4 games. Whoever shines in-between the pipes tonight, look for that team to get the W.
YOUR TAKE AWAY PIECE:
“One game at a time, the Hawks need to stay focused. It will be easy with the Madhouse energy and excitement to get away from the game plan. If they come out hot and get up on the Kings, this one is over. The Kings are awful on the road; however as we just saw with the Detroit series being down 3-1 doesn’t mean a thing. Stay focused for 60 minutes and let’s get to the Stanley Cup Finals.”
Plan accordingly for this one folks. A tonight will send our city into party mode until Sunday morning and beyond. With so much going on in the city, plan to arrive early to any spot. You need to be sure you are in the right place at the right time for this one folks. It’s going to be EPIC.
