Joakim Noah, Chicago Bulls

We’ve been eyeing Jo-No for months now, sale contemplating the right time to HAM him. An obvious choice for many reasons, online which I list below, treat we wanted to wait until Noah had a dominating performance before doing the honors.  After Friday night’s 108 -104 win over the Pistons, in which Noah set a career high in points (30) and rebounds (23), we knew we couldn’t wait any longer…

Therefore, we are turning our attention back to the hardwood and recognizing Bulls center, Joakim Noah as this week’s HAM.

Arguably, one of the most beloved Bulls on the squad, the 27-year old New York native messy bun baller is listed at 6’11” and 232lbs.  With dark eyes, long kinky brown hair, larger than life smile, and a dangerous swag, this New Yorker is at the top of the Chicago hot list, but this wasn’t always the case.

Noah played college basketball at SEC dynamo Florida. He was a standout superstar of the Gators’ starting five helping the Gators win back-to-back NCAA Championships in 2006 and 2007. Noah was drafted by the Chicago Bulls in the first round (9th overall) in the 2007 NBA Draft.  Noah struggled in his rookie season so much that many though the might be a bust.

His unconventional shooting style has been the subject of much criticism. However, with 5 years of NBA experience under his belt and the guidance of head coach Tom Thibodeau, Noah is turning into one of the best centers in the NBA. He is averaging 13.7 points per game this season, almost 5 points more than his normal career average (9.1).

Noah derives from a blessed gene pool. He was born to Cecilia Rodhe, Miss Sweden 1978 and Yannick Noah a former professional tennis player and French singer. In addition, he is the paternal grandson to Zacharie Noah a Cambodian soccer player.

Noah is known as the heart and soul of the team and for his great get-up-and-go play especially on the defensive end. He is a bad ass rebounder, an entertaining gun slinger (see video below) and a skillful passer and ball-handler at the center position.

In addition to the energy and skills Noah brings to the Bulls, another reason to put this unconventional cutie on your radar is for his fashion risk-taking. We are never surprised, by Noah’s style choices. Different than the typical NBA fashion-forward geek-chic look ala   Dwyane Wade or Kevin Durant, Noah rocks the haute bohemian look like no one’s business.

Noah also has a huge heart off the hardwood. He runs the Noah’s Arc Foundation with his mother, an organization built on the principle of self-expression and the belief that every child, no matter race, creed, color, nationality, religion or economic standing needs to be able to express their true self in order to fulfill their dreams. A baller with a heart of gold; perfect HAM material to us!

The Bulls kick off a big week facing the Los Angeles Clippers, Philadelphia 76ers, and the Brooklyn Nets. Noah will be a huge part of the Bulls’ success the rest of the season as he continues to impress us on and off the court.
