Take Me Out to the Ball Game! Alternative Fashion Choices for the Ballpark

Next week I’ll be going to my first Cubs game of the season, and I’m already concerned about what to wear.  When I attend a game, I want to be ready to watch the game, not ready to play the game. My thought process when dressing for a baseball game is a little more thorough for two reasons: 1) the Chicago weather is bi-polar and any outfit could get covered by a winter parka at the drop of a hat, and 2) baseball games are 9 innings…..a LONG 9 innings…comfort is key!

No player walks to the plate to swing and miss, so neither should you. The key is to wear feminine form fitting pieces that flatter your shape. Swing batterrrr! The question is not what do you wear to a baseball game, but what do you wear depending on the time of the year you go. Batter up!

Spring time in Chicago can be as lovely as the weather outside right now or cold, wet and miserable. Better to be safe rather than sorry with this gingham shirt from Jcrew. On top of a dark jean, cinch the waist of this shirt this modern leather belt from Ann Taylor or finish the look with a tailored blazer for warmth!

There is nothing more nostalgic then attending a baseball game in the Summer time; I’d even eat a hot dog for the sake of nostalgia :) Pair a refreshing beer with this refreshing summer dress from Old Navy. Who says you can’t color block in baseball?? Think 80 degree weather, 9 innings in the same seat…..the length of this dress is your saving grace.

Over anything I would prefer a fall night game! A game under thestars in the cool brisk air, your team is fighting to advance to the playoffs; it really doesn’t get any better than that! I will tell you one thing, there isn’t an umpire in the league that would call you out for wearing this maxi dress from Old Navy to the game. The best part about this dress, is that it’s cross town friendly and is available in all your teams colors! Pair it with a cardigan, blazer or this leather jacket from Zara. Add a scarf with your teams colors, like this, to add another element of team support!

Well ladies, three outfits, three seasons, I’d say that your bases are loaded, batter up…..a grand slam in fashion is headed your way!
