The White Sox kept to their winning ways through the holiday weekend as they defeated a talented Tampa Bay team, 2-1. Chris Sale struck out 15 Tampa Bay batters, setting the record at the Ray’s ballpark and came within one strike out of tying the Sox all-time record of 16! This is no small feat seeing how well the Rays have played this season. The Sox streak of 4 games scoring 9+ runs did come to an end, but the winning streak keeps going!
What You Need To Know:
- The Sox win streak is the longest of the season so far. Cleveland won their Memorial Day match-up, keeping them .5 games ahead of the Sox in the division standings.
- After a ridiculously-good performance today, it’s hard to believe the Sox contemplated removing Sale from the starting rotation and him into the bullpen. Sale has been on a tear lately! He only gave up one run in his 7+ innings of work. I don’t forsee him leaving the starting rotation anytime soon. His pitching along with Jesse Crain and Addison Reed, held the Rays to only 3 hits.
Adam Dunn
The Sox bats didn’t connect as much as they have the last several games, but they did when it mattered on Monday. Adam Dunn crushed a 2 run home run (11th of the month!) to give the Sox all the runs they would need for the victory. Paul Konerko also added a hit to keep his hitting streak alive at 14 games in a row.

What’s Next: The Sox play game 2 against the Rays Tuesday with Philip Humber squaring off against James Shields. Humber’s only win this season came during his perfect game. Hopefully, the Sox offensive momentum can help earn him his second win of the year.
